Generic IP Camera integration - Question about privacy

The Generic IP Camera integration page states that the IP camera hosts images from Home Assistants’ servers;

Home Assistant will serve the images via its server, making it possible to view your IP cameras while outside of your network. The endpoint is /api/camera_proxy/camera.[name] .

Does this mean that images are hosted on Home Assistant infrastructure? Are these images securely stored and does this apply also to streaming images as well as still’s?

Thanks

When it say own server it literally means your instance of home assistant. I.e. the raspberry pi or other hardware you are running it on.

Brilliant, thank you for clarifying - I wasn’t sure because it says doing so makes it possible to view your IP camera’s outside of your network, which is why I assumed this.

Thanks for clarifying. :+1:
