I have been using the generic thermostat to run my hous heating for some time and it does its job, but a few additions would make it much more effective.
- Act as a switch so that I can use the state of the thermostat in automations rather than have a physical switch. This is handy where I have a few thermostats and would like to trigger only one physical switch depending on if any thermostats are switched on. Not all my thermostats have a matching switch so I am resorting to helpers, but the thermostat itself if left without a physical switch would be plenty.
- Accept binary/on/off state as input so that heating on a schedule can be simplified to adding a schedule helper to the generic thermostat YAML.
Thank you,
Chris.
