Getting HA running on RPI 4

Hi, I’m new to HA and Raspberry PI. Just trying to get the HA operating system running on a new RPI 4 and failing. I’ve gone through the process of loading imager and loading the SD card, insert it into the RPI 4, connect an Ethernet cable, screen and finally power using an official RPI power supply.

Each time I go through this the Raspberry Pi Desktop loads. What am I missing or doing wrong?

I’ve loaded the operating system onto two new 32gb SD cards in case one is faulty but that makes no difference.

Really appreciate some guidance.

Many thanks

Nick

What guide are you following? This one?

What does the “pi desktop” look like?

Be aware that HAOS will only boot to a prompt. There is no front end. You need to use a browser on another device to access the “front end”.

Yes, I’ve followed that guide.

Desktop starts with this screen

I’ve been through the set up and ended up with a desktop with icons in the top left.

You must be burning the wrong image - that’s Raspian not HAOS.

You,ve just made me go back over the downloading of the OS and I now see my schoolboy error, I’ve been downloading Raspian. I had it in my mind that the choice of Operating Systems were all for HA and just went for the one referring to RPI 4, basically didn’t follow the instructions to the letter.

Really sorry for wasting everyone’s time.
