Getting Lutron Pico commands to Denon AVR

Hi. I’m new here and new to Home Assistant. I kind of don’t know anything. So, with that in mind, here’s my goal:

A simple and elegant play/pause & skip song buttons to control Spotify on my Denon AVR-X3400H which, maddeningly, doesn’t have it on the unit itself. Bonus points for the ability to press a button and stream TuneIn stations. I don’t want to use my phone or the Denon remote. So, here I am. From my preliminary research it is my understanding that the simplest / cheapest hardware to get this done is going to be Lutron Caseta Pico Audio remote (with stand) > Lutron Bridge Pro > Ethernet? > Rasberry Pi 3B running Home Assistant > Rasberry Pi RS232 expansion > RS232 cable > Denon AVR.

So here’s my shopping list:

  1. Lutron Caseta Pico Audio
  2. Lutron Caseta Pico Stand
  3. Lutron Bridge Pro
  4. Lutron Bridge Pro Power Supply
  5. Ethernet patch cable
  6. Rasberry Pi 3B
  7. Rasberry Pi RS232 expansion compatible with the 3B
  8. RS232 cable

Any mistakes? Anything about this excessive given my limited scope of what I’m trying to do? I get the sense that it may be possible for me to use my spare Arduino Uno R3 and MQTT, but that it would be much harder to do. Given the fact that I’m an absolute beginner, I figure it’s best to go the Home Assistant / Rasberry Pi route.

Thanks for any input!
After I’m done ordering hardware, I’ll need to figure out the integration part. Yummy!

Actually, never mind. I got a Lenovo Tab M8 with docking station. I’ll run the Denon HEOS app on the Android platform. And… DONE!
