Hello,
I’ve set up the Google Travel Time sensor (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/google_travel_time/) and I can get the time needed to take my kid to kindergarten by taking the tram. That is great, but I’d really like to know when the next tram arrives (they arrive about every 10 minutes), so I better know when to exit the door.
I know there is a GTFS sensor, but as far as I know that uses static data (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/gtfs/), and traffic in my city is hectic, causing delays so that data is no good.
However, Google knows quite accurately when the next tram is due.
Any ideas/suggestions on getting that information in HA? I’d like to have a disembodied voice speak to us that we need to leave in x minutes to catch the next tram…
Thank you both. So I’m at the mercy of my local municipality’s data… I was hoping google was doing things differently and maybe getting data correlated from other sources (e.g. android phones).
I’ll try to track down a working GTFS data source and see if it’s any use…
Hey, hope you don’t mind me reopening this after a couple years. I’ve only recently found this integration and have managed to set it up so it’s telling me a travel time, but there didn’t seem to be any clearcut way to specify public transport, a mode of public transport, or personal vehicle.
Tbh I feel a bit silly asking as I feel I’ve missed something obvious, mind helping me out with how you specified a tram mode of transport?
just go to the Google Maps Travel Time integration in Settings, and press configure next to the sensor you want to have a different travel mode. And select a different travel mode:
