I’m looking for a handheld programmable universal remote control which can both control my AV equipment and also send commands to Home Assistant (e.g. via RF - I have Broadcom and Sonoff RF devices).
Can anyone recommend something which is available to purchase in the UK?
I have used URC remotes from the USA in the past, but it’s now pretty much impossible to get hold of the programming software for them in the UK.
This should be shipping in the next month or so: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/marton/remote-two
There will probably be sales afterwards of leftover units.
Interesting. But probably not an option for me yet, as the last Kickstarter product that I took a punt on was a crushing disappointment - didn’t work as advertised and I think never made it to market.
Yeah understandable. This is the second version of this remote though. The first one was well received. There’s a forum and Discord if you want to know more.
There doesn’t seem to be much input in the forum. Do you happen to know the address of the Discord group?
One of the main concerns, even if the hardware and software are solid, are what happens if the company folds 18 months after investing £400 in their system?
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately Discord is telling me that it “is invalid or has expired” ???
If for any reason the company goes under and the code isn’t open sourced, does the solution depend on any server-hosted elements which users would lose access to?
No. It is completely local and the developer toolkit has already been released.
