Goodwe Inverter ESA not connecting

I just had a Goodwe Interver and batteries installed and trying to add it to my HA doesn’t work with the message “failed to connect”.

Using my powers of GoogleFu I have found that I may have to turn on Modbus on the Wifi module, but connect work out how to do this.

The inverter is already on my network so I am not sure how to go about doing this. Has anyone had any success connecting their Goodwe ESA system to HA and if so how?

Thanks

Need a lot more information to even start to help. My personal opinion is the GoodWe hardware is robust, but the software and documentation for third party integration is very poor. Even my ‘GoogleFu’ won’t find non-existant API documentation. Most integrations have been done the unreliable hard way - reverse engineering.

Describe your physical setup. What connects to what. What models? What wiring?

Then describe what software you have used to glue it all together. Are you attempting to screen scrape SEMS, or read and intercept data from the inverter directly,

Network working? Describe your local network. Are you referring to your inverter talking to SEMS over the internet, or something else?

To turn on Modbus you need to connect to your inverter using the SolarGo app and to do that after the device is set up, you need to activate Bluetooth.

On my EHA inverter, I pressed the reload button twice and this turns on Bluetooth for 5 minutes. I was then able to connect to my inverter change the Modbus setting and now I have my system connected to Home Assistant.

As a side note, I was also able to turn on the WiFi setting in SolarGo so that now if I have to go back and do some more configuration with my Inverter I can do that now by connecting through WiFi.
