Google assistant account linking fail: site not reachable

I have HassOS 2.12, HA version 0.102.2 and the NGINX Home Assistant SSL proxy 2.5.

I’m trying to add google assistant integration. I’ve followed the ‘manual’ instructions multiple times.
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/google_assistant/

I get a failure during account linking. I’m using the Home app on my smart phone, adding device, etc. When I tap the [test] my app line under ‘add new’, I get a new browser window a long delay, and then error message that the site at “https://[my ha dns name]/auth/authorize?[a bunch of stuff]” can’t be reached.

My error is very similar to what others have seen on this forum, except others at least seem to get past my error.

Wondering:

  1. should I try with the nginx proxy manager add-on instead of nginx ssl proxy add-on?
  2. Can I get log info from google assistant component?
  3. can I get log info from the SSL proxy add-on?

did you make sure to update your configuration.yaml and restart before attempting to link? Also go back and check all the URL’s and make sure you got them all correct, including trailing /

The reason for my failure had nothing to do with HA or the proxy. It was my home router. My smartphone was connected to my router’s wifi but my router wasn’t forwarding to my router’s wired port to the pi correctly.

The fix was to add a manual DNS entry to the DNS server inside my router. I mapped my outside DNS name to the inside address of the pi.

After that the phone could reach HA just fine, all linked up now.
