Google Assistant SDK Target Speaker Groups

I’m sure now that the Google Assistant SDK is built in there are going to be a lot of questions similar to this. I did some searching but didn’t find anything specifically about this so I’ll delete if anybody points me to the same question.

I see how to target rooms and successfully did that with a broadcast messages, but is there a way to target speaker groups?
I’ve tried the following with no success:

- Security Speaker Group
- "Security Speaker Group"
- Security_Speaker_Group
Also have tried "text command" of the following
Broadcast to Security Speaker Group Test message number 1

All result in all the speakers in the house getting a long message including the Security Speaker Group as part of the message.

I’ve set them up and that is how I call them with TTS currently.
It’d be really nice to not interrupt music with this new integration.

Also a little side question, has anybody figured out how to stop it from saying “incoming broadcast”, probably stuck with that but the noise at the beginning is more than enough to trigger people to start listening for the message… Google really thinks we want to hear the assistant’s voice…

Did you create group in HA or Google?
I was able to push to targets that exist in Google Assistant.

They were made in Google Assistant.
Do you have any speaker groups?
Mind sharing a screenshot of the “target” that’s a speaker group?
Rooms work for me, but anything more than one word results in broadcast to every speaker in the house.

Currently you can only target rooms. Not groups or even specific devices contrary to what the help center says Broadcast voice messages in your home - Android - Google Assistant Help
This is also a limitation when talking to Google Assistant directly without the integration.

Yea I believe it.
I’ll say, “broadcast to X room…” “what’s the message?” “Time for dinner” “You can ask me to broadcast to a specific room, or all of your devices, what would you like to do?”
Like seriously magic lady, I just told you quite explicitly.
I can say the same thing 10 minutes later and it will work just fine.
I’m mostly done with voice assistants unfortunately…
I just use them as speakers and ambient alerts.
