Google Assistent - Trigger Voice input

Trigger Google Assistant for voice commands after “welcome home” message

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to create an automation in Home Assistant that combines a personalized welcome message with voice command activation through Google Assistant. Here’s what I’m aiming for:

  1. When I arrive home, my Google home hub plays a personalized “welcome home” message ending in “can I do something for you”
  2. Immediately after the message, Google Assistant opens for voice input so I can speak a command, like “shut the covers” or adjust smart home settings.

I’ve explored existing “welcome home” automations and the Google Assistant integration. However, I haven’t found a way to seamlessly transition from the welcome message to open mic for voice commands.

Is such thing possible? It would also be great to map this “trigger” to a smart button, so I don’t have to say “okay/hey Google” but I can press the button and then start speaking.

I appreciate any insights or guidance the community can offer!
