Google Cast Unifi Protect RSTP Stream or WebRTC Stream On Event?

With all of the changes to UniFi Protect, Streaming, and updated add-ons like WebRTC, I’m trying to find something that works consistently to project a live stream feed of a particular camera to a screen via Google Chromecast.

I keep a dashboard projected to a Chromecast device plugged into a dumb monitor during the day, which shows the top glanceable information I want to see and also recent static snapshots from my most important cameras (that update every 10 seconds). Turning those cameras to LIVE or swapping out for WebRTC does not appear to work for all of them to be live…so what I’d like to figure out something like this:

  • Doorbell Press on G4 Doorbell
  • HA stops the dashboard stream to this Chromecast Endpoint and sends the live stream from the Doorbell
  • After 2 minutes, it reverts back to the dashboard

I was previously with Blue Iris and this was easy to do since it supported a .mjpg stream, but I haven’t found a workable way to accomplish this through RTSP or WebRTC. Any ideas?

Was wondering if you were able to add your Unifi cameras to the WebRTC integration?

Not yet and haven’t had the cycles to dive into it again recently. I feel like there’s got to be a way…just figured out that magic formula yet.
