Google Chromecast Audio sleeping

Hey everyone,

So got a chromecast audio yesterday, thing is amazing however it goes to sleep. I have the virtual grandfather clock running in Appdaemon and if the chromecast goes to sleep the only way I’ve been able to wake it up is to cast something to it.

Is there a method to keep the thing from sleeping? I setup an automation in nodered to have it check it every 5 mins to see if its off and if it is to wake it up.

I tried to even send some TTS to it but once it goes under its under.

I ran into a problem using the method with media_player.volume_set. When trying to set the volume to for example 0.5, when the volume was already 0.5, the issue with the sound beeing cut at the beginning was still present. And setting different sound levels, 0.51 and 0.52 for different TTS announcements feels like a bad idea. Thanks @tom_l for the suggestion. I’ve now got it plugged into NodeRed with a 2 second silent mp3 file. Hopefully this will fix it up. I’d really like to order some more chromecasts so I can avoid buying 2 more sonos speakers. Don’t get me wrong I love my sonos and the sound is incredible but I just need these speakers for announcements and things.
