I’ve just added an old Google Home Mini to my home assistant, solely for use as a ‘chime’ speaker for a doorbell and other notifications.
It all works fine, but when it’s not been used for a while it makes a little trilling notification sound before playing the mp3 i’ve chosen.
Does anyone know if there is a way of disabling this?
There is no way to do that.
The only way around it is to mute it before you send a notification, delay and then unmute and do the notification.
That’s disappointing!
I’ve realised it’s a notification for when casting has started which seems to have a ten minute time out. I could play a silent half second mp3 every nine minutes to keep the casting session alive, not sure if that would have any adverse effects.
