Google Mini as speaker only in Home Assistant

Hello,

Having some issues with Integration discovery and yaml configuration for Google Mini speaker.

I have the google mini connected to a wifi that is on a different subnet than Home Assistant server. The Mini net can not talk to the WAN and can only talk to the HA server. I have many devices configured the same with no issues so can confirm my network is ‘mostly’ configured correctly. I know enough to know what I don’t know. HA net can talk to anything on the IoT net.

I have confirmed via dhcp lease the mini has an ip on the correct net. i used that IP to try and configure via .yaml.

Better example of net configuration since I don’t communicate ‘good’.

So google mini/24 → HA/32
an google mini/24 ← HA/32

Am I missing some obvious?

I’m curious if you have any others configured this way. My understanding is they become a paperweight if they can’t get to the interwebs except for direct Bluetooth.

Nope this would be my first endeavor with the mini’s, though I did buy 3. Trying to find a cheaper option than the IKEA/Sonos. I have an IoT, Guest (Wan only no LAN) and Main net. Not even the wife is allowed on the main net lol. I might have to make a IoT + WAN, or just accept the risk and toss them on the main net. I was afraid Google would punish any of us that actually has the nerve to want and try to protect our right to privacy.

Sounds like the new device can’t be discovered across subnet. I had to enable mDNS service on my router to facilitate that.
