Has anybody else set up a speaker group with their media devices?
Using the Google Home App I can create a group, but want’s YouTube Premium for me to use it.
Curious whether anybody has this in Home Assistant?

Your question is not very clear in terms of how it relates to HA.
I will say that HA doesn’t seem to see speaker groups anymore although it did at one time.
Oh sorry. Reading back it is a little vague.
I have a couple of google speakers and the hub devices along with TVs etc
I can play media from Home Assistant to either device…
I’m curious whether in HA I can create a “Downstairs Speakers” group and play media to all of them at the same time
No you can’t create speaker groups in HA…at least it’s not something I’ve seen done before. But as you said you can create groups using the Google Home app. You should be able to cast any music service to a speaker group, not just Youtube TV.
At home time HA would see the groups as a media device that you could use in HA, but something recently changed where HA is not picking up the groups.
Although there was a recent update from Google to cast functionality and it most likely broke something in HA…hopefully it gets fixed in future releases.
Well, i did check it out few weeks ago and it seems to be perfectly possible again. I was not even aware that this functionality was broken:)
So, in Google Home app I create speaker group consisting of several google speakers (mix of google mini and google cast audio) and second later i can find them back in HA, showing as media_player.
The only prob I cannot solve (but seems it’s more general one, many other people complain abou it) is that playing musinc from HA to that newly created media_player suddenly stops. Log files shows media player as “unavailble”
I had this similar issue, turned out one device kept disconnecting from Google which broke the media player entity.
Will have another look into it.

New to HA, is it possible to create a ‘group’ of Chromecast audio’s and have the group represent it’s playing status?
IE: If any one player has a status of (Idle, Playing. Paused, etc…), the group status = that status.
As above, I’m using Google Home to create the Media Player ‘Groups’.
The groups are configured in the Google Home app as following…
(as above, if one of these devices goes offline, it kills the media_player in HA)

I’m then using the Google Cast integration to pull those media devices and groups into HA

so would it be possible to start a stream eg. Spotify to stream to this Google Cast Group?
As it is seen idle, it cant be selected
