Google voice commands not working for all users

I have been running Home Assistant connected to the Cloud server for Google Assistant access so that I can do voice control with Google Home speakers. I added my partner to the system well over a year ago and things have worked perfectly up until a week ago. We are using the Voice Match option with Google assistant so that we each get our own schedule updates and such.

The issue:
She can say “Hey Google, turn on the living room light” and that will work, but if she tries to trigger anything that activates a script or scene Google says “Sorry, I couldn’t reach hass.io”.

Steps taken:

  • Restarted Home Assistant server
  • Removed ad re-added Hassio skill in Google Home app
  • Did SYNC ENTITIES TO GOOGLE from Home Assistant Cloud options.
  • Verified that Scripts and Scenes are synchronized with Google Assistant.
  • Updating to the latest version of Hassio and Home Assistant.

Other noteworthy findings:
Everything works exactly as it should so long as she uses an altered voice so that Google Assistant dose not voice match it to her account. As soon as Google knows she is the one making the request, she no longer has access to hassio Scenes and Scripts. If I say “Hey Google” and she finishes the command like “good morning” then it also works fine. We have since disabled Voice Match for her account and now it is working for everything. However, without Voice Match Google will not give personalized responses to her requests. It also means that I have to set Google Assistant to accept commands from any voice rather than just ours because she is now essentially a guest user.

I did come across an old post that mentioned a similar issue a few years back that had no fix, but the situation just “fixed itself eventually” so that was little help.

Is there some sort of user permission that I am missing for Hassio. I have both users set to Admin, though this had worked before with her account set to User.

Hi
I realize this post is from earlier this year, Did you find an answer?

Peter

I never really got an answer, but if you just disable Voice Match for a few days and then turn it back on that seemed to fix things.

I have had this happen every few months or so and have yet to get any explanation for it other than Google dropping the ball.

What is odd about it is that whatever it is that I am asking it to do it does and then says that HASSio is not working. The only skill that I have in Google Assistant is HASSio. So how is it controlling my LIFX lights if HASSio cant be reached.

Honestly I would hate Google Nest with a total passion if it were not the best voice system available.

Good luck.
