I have now used the PING node to do the presence detection in node red it is super easy.

I added it to my house alarm flow and connected both phone to the STOPTIMER node. So if either phone has a successful ping (eg it’s on the wifi) then it resets the 5min timer once both phones stop pinging because they aren’t on the wifi the STOPTIMER counts down from 5 mins and then outputs a message which I integrated to the rest of my alarm flow.

There is no need for google wifi integration or another integration it’s already available using the PING node in nodered.

IFTTT has access to it only because Google gave them access. Google is unlikely to allow access in any sort of open and documented way which would allow HA to use it.

Let me rephrase, it’s not available over any local connection, it is possible to get that data from their cloud APIs
