Got stuck with integration

Hello HA community,

since two days I have a HA core installation 2024.10.2 with Bookworm on a RPi4 and I am quite happy to have made it this far.

Now I have two challenges that I have not yet overcome - please have mercy on the beginner questions:

  1. the first step to linking e.g. with a Shelly Plug S should probably be to add an integration. When I do exactly this, I get an error:
Config flow could not be loaded: 500 Internal Server Error Server got itself in trouble
It doesn’t matter which integration I select. There are plenty of threads about this, but I haven’t found a good solution yet. Do you have any tips?

  2. i thought HA finds manageable devices mostly on its own. This seems to fail because I am running a segmented network and the devices in question are not in the same segment as the HA-RPi. However, the segments with the devices are accessible via the default gateway. How do I explain to the HA that it should search in other segments?

Thanks and best regards,

Boris

Hi Boris,

When you choose core on an RPI4 and segmented network, you are kinda on your own. Didn’t pick the easy way, that’s for sure.
You have Advanced setup install with an unsupported network config.
I hope someone can help you, I’m not going to be much help.

Hej Sir_Goodenough,

thank you for your statement!
Yes, I deliberately took this route in order to develop as much understanding as possible of how HA works.
I don’t find my home network very unusual. Almost everyone will have a physical LAN and a WLAN. Splitting this into two /24 segments is not rocket science either. Add a DMZ and you have three segments managed via a router with a firewall. ‘Advanced’?
