Grafana Access through HA Cloud

I have been using HA since few months now and am super happy I made the switch. In order to get more options in terms of creating nice graphs I installed InfluxDB and Grafana. However, after weeks of playing around with this and trying to make things work - meaning getting my graphs into the HA Dashboards and keep them visible also on my iPhone and iPad when I am not at home - there seems to be an issue.
After further AI investigations I get following:

It appears that enabling anonymous access to Grafana when using Home Assistant Cloud (I do use Cloud access) is not possible. Here’s a summary of the key points:

  1. Home Assistant Cloud limitations: it is not possible to enable anonymous or non-administrator access with Home Assistant Cloud. This includes embedding Grafana resources with an iframe or rendered image inside of a dashboard.
  2. Grafana Cloud restrictions: Anonymous access is not allowed for Grafana Cloud dashboards, which is likely the case for the Grafana instance integrated with Home Assistant Cloud.
  3. No access to configuration files: With cloud-hosted solutions like Home Assistant Cloud or Grafana Cloud (free plan), users don’t have access to the grafana.ini configuration file, which is typically used to enable anonymous access in self-hosted Grafana instances.
  4. Security considerations: Enabling anonymous access at the scale of cloud services would require significant infrastructure and security work, which hasn’t been implemented yet for these platforms.

So my questions really is how to get this resolved as I really want to move to InfluxDB (as my database is growing daily) and also Grafana.
Will there be other options in future updates of HA that will make this possible without any issue?

Thanks much,
Paul

I moved this as it doesn’t seem to be an actual feature request.

  1. Remote access to HA always needs a login
  2. Grafana cloud is unrelated to HA cloud
  3. HA cloud is unrelated to how you run Grafana

It sounds like you want remote access to Grafana dashboards, but open to the world? No login needed?

Grafana allows to make dashboards public. Maybe that is an option for you?

You mention Grafana and Grafana Cloud.
What are you using? These are very different.
Grafana can be installed on whatever PC, server you have at home.
Grafana Cloud is the cloud offering from Grafana Labs. That includes Grafana but also things like Prometheus , etc.

I am just using Grafana but getting the message the dashboards are not accessible using HA Cloud. And that is my issue. It only works when I am at home which is a pity. I tried to make dashboards public but still then it does not work as it should. Not seeing the graphs properly.

The only thing I want is to be able to access my Grafana graphs through HA even when I am not at home. At home they work fine, as soon as I leave home they don’t work any longer. I do have HA Cloud subscription.

You still did not answer how you setup Grafana.
I assume you use the Home Assistant AddOn Store.

If so have a look into this thread.
It looks like they got home assistant cloud setup working with Grafana ingress:

It can be done using ingress integration.. Setting this up i could access grafana over nabu casa cloud but i couldn’t share dashboards as link is http://localhost:3000/some_link.

Solution for me was to replace http://localhost:3000/ part of link with https://nabucasa_url/rest_of_the_link.
