Group of device trackers

Hi,

Just noticed HADashboard and raring to set it up. I have been reading up on all the doc and have a question. I use groups in HA to combine device trackers - for e.g. I use both owntracks and a router as source for my own presence and then use a combined group to drive automations, etc.

Can I use a group as a device tracker in HADashboard?

I don’t see why not - just use a group widget and change the icon to something appropriate.

Started setting up HADashboard. Will try your suggestion tomorrow. I wasn’t sure if the group widget would recognize the home and not_home statuses.

Actually, you are right - this won’t work, I took a quick look. I will add the ability to reverse map unexpected states for a given widget, should be an easy and quick change.

@aimc I was wondering if it would be more appropriate to include (or change) an entity attribute to the device_tracker widget type rather than the device attribute. This way any entity could be used a device_tracker. If that makes sense.

I know this is old, but has this capability been added? I too use a group to manage the presence state of an individual (multiple devices as a group). This works perfect for automations, and I would like to use the group in a device_tracker widget, but I can’t figure out how to do it.

you can use the icon widget to show different icons for different states from the group entity.
