New feature in HA 2023.2 of combining sensors is great, for instance to obtain the aritmetic mean of temperatures at home.
The thing is that a sensor in the living room which may have 35 m2 surface should not have the same weight as a sensor in a bathroom with 5 m2. So, I think it could be a great feature adding a weighted arithmetic mean of sensors (of course, it can be done within a template), adding a possible weight to each sensor value in the configuration of the group.
How do you do the weighted mean with a template?
It’s an interesting idea, but a very niche use case. This doesn’t mean it’s more relevant for some people, but probebly not enough for an core integration. There are already a lot of sensor types which makes it difficult to choose the right one.
As you mentioned, the template sensor seems a good solution for what you want to achieve.
I also have a strong preference for the UI since I do a lot of small things on mobile and the editor is unusable on mobile. Still, I hope you are able to create the sensor you need.
