Growatt Integration Was Working Until Reboot/Restart HA

New to HA, and setting up over past few days - managed to get Growatt integration working and had nice charts/data out.

This morning - restarted HA as I was having (and still having) issues integrating with my 2nd Synology NAS and after that, growatt integration stopped working.

I cleared the integration and attempted to add again - and when I do so it says “Unknown Error Occurred”. Have I screwed something up? Weirdly, looking up google and here, it looks like maybe I was lucky to get Growatt working in the first place?

Thanks

I left this one ages ago for grott … at the time it did work but flaky due to connection issues with the growatt server. Grott has been stable since almost 2 years but… it can be a bit daunting if you are not a bit tech savvy.

You can try to wait for the growattt integration to come alive again or try different server(s)… not even sure what the issue is so do look at the logs (add a debug for this one to get more details)

Thank you - I think I found out why - my ShinePhone login says locked fo 24 hours - so I must have triggered something! Hopefully it’ll be back up in 24 hours.

Would you recommend Grott over Growatt integration? As in, based on what you have now, and assume Growatt itself worked, would you stick to grott?

Personally (!) I would, I had quite a few issues receiving data steadily from the growatt severs and if you want to steer some automation with (relatively) up-to-date production figures, then this ‘sucks’. If you only want to track production then it is fine enough I guess.
The other advantage, being a mentality thing, is that I do not have to share data with anyone. Grott can run 100% local and you can choose to forward the data to the growatt-severs, e.g. if you want to use their app.
The data flow is roughly …

  • converter > shinedongle > grott > HA
  • if configured, in parallel: converter > shinedongle > grott > growatt-server
