Growatt SPH switch function?

Hi all, I’m having problems controlling my Growatt SPH + Battery system via both Home Assistant and Solar Assistant.

  1. Can anyone tell me what the switch to the right of the Growatt SPH title is/does in the attached picture.
  2. Should I have Backup EPS enabled as show in the picture? I don’t have any backup system and I’d hate to fry an engineer if there was a power outage (we do get the odd short one).

Hello !
In this case the backup will enable the backup exit off SPH in your location.
The exit is isolated from the grid and will power separate load.

EPS stands for “Emergency Power Socket” as far as I know. Our SPH inverter has a red double-gang power socket wired to it, and if Backup EPS is enabled then this socket will be live, powered by the inverter, even in a power cut when the rest of the house loses power. It’s so that you can run an extension lead from the socket to power e.g. your fridge/freezer if there was an extended power cut, or a kettle etc.

The switch in your screenshot by the title, assuming that card is from your Overview dashboard, is an automatically created toggle that will turn on/off all the entities that are shown in that card (so probably not something you want to use in this case).
