GUI improvement on readability of automations and scripts

In October 2020 I initiated the discussion/asked if it would(Give conditions color or a gray fill · home-assistant/frontend · Discussion #7415 · GitHub) be possible to increase the readability of automations and scripts by using a color or gray fill for each “nest”. In response a PR that was created but was “rejected” with the argument**:

The plan would be to nest them and if you want to edit them you would click into it. We should have never done it this way. Cards in Cards is actually against Material Design.

Since the idea behind my post was mainly a request for improvement on the readability, I am happy with any improvement and it’s very likely that the picked solution is better than my suggestion. But now it’s almost two years since I did the suggestion, I wonder if anyone else would appreciate an improvement on readability of the automations and scripts, or if it’s just me.

So if you are, please hit the vote button

The thing I suggested can be seen at github: Give conditions color or a gray fill · home-assistant/frontend · Discussion #7415 · GitHub

+1
Readability could be much better. Especially when using dark based themes which I use.

Hi Ronald, it sure does. Another readability improvement would be to be able to collapse and expand choices, if-then’s, repeats, etc.

But let’s see, if they respond to this request, what they come up with.

You gave a +1, but did you also hit the Vote button on top?

Thx

I sure did

Again, absolutely agree. Maybe even put another feature request up for that now that you’re mentioning it? Viewing automation with some logic can be painfully long. Especially on mobile.

Would be great if they would make it collapsed by default so you can view easily. And collapse/expand all buttons on top.
