I am looking to create some peripheral device for my HA setup that could play custom alerts or text-to-speech in much the same way as an amazon echo. I don’t want to use an echo or similar device as I don’t need the speech capacity or internet connectivity. Any thoughts how to get this done? I am thinking a raspberry pi based peripheral that I can connect over ethernet to the network and then to an audio system. Thoughts?
I use this on my linux desktop, but it should work fine on a raspberry pi with some speakers attached
