After the latest OS 10 update, moving data storage to a new disk has been made easy.
To prolong the build in eMMC Flash life span on the Blue, I was thinking of moving data storage to an external USB dongle or SSD. From what I understand the HA OS will remain on the eMMC (OS being read processed) and then the USB storage will be used for database reading and writing.
From the Blues data sheet:
-
128GB eMMC Flash (what version? The newest eMMC Flash spec. version 5.1A- 400 megabytes per second)
Ha Blue measured, sequential read and write speed is over 150MB/s and 125MB/s respectively. -
4 X USB 3.0 Type-A Ports (shares one single root hub).
The theoretical transfer speed of USB 3.0 is 4.8 Gbit/s (600MBps)
Sustained transfer speeds (real life) for external hard drives are about 85MBps for USB 3.0.
- Is my thinking valid, moving storage to an USB3 dongle prolonging the Blues eMMC Flash life?
- What is the read/write speed for the Blues single USB3 port? Nice to know so not to buy a USB dongle over specked
- Will the Samsung Portable SSD T7 USB 3.2 work with the Blue/OS 10, when the spec says works with PC/MAC and Android 5.1 (Lollipop) ?
