I have installed HomeAssistant OS on a raspberry pi 4 and everything is running fine. But each time when an update is found (for HA Core or HA itself) my system crashes. Nothing is responding and I need to manually restart the system (unplugging power supply).
I’ve tried to check the logs but I can’t see any information that could explain this behavior. It also looks like the system crashes before anything is logged.
After the restart everything is running fine until the next update is found.
Does anybody had ever something similar or have an idea how to track back where this is coming from?
Sorry, it is a raspberry pi 4, not 3.
It is running on a sd card for around 3 months.
The issue was there since the first installation.
I’m also updating my instance to the newest versions. Currently running versions:
Home Assistant 2023.1.2
Supervisor 2022.12.1
Operating System 9.4
Frontend 20230104.0 - latest
I’m also using a SONOFF USB stick to use zigbee devices.
Hi, I am have the same issues since many months or rather years. Everytime i try to upgrade the system freezes, and i need to make multiple tries before i get the update to be correctly installed.
@m4sm0 : have you managed to resolve your issue? If yes what was the fix that you applied?
Looking to revive this thread. I have the same issue. Stable, no issues, then when update for HA core or HA opperating system available system crashes. Have to power it down to get it back up. No idea why. Any thoughts?
Does anyone have the same problems?
I have a recent install on a Linux VM on top of VMware.
Each time a new update is detected HA stops working and all automation is ignored. This is quite frustrating. Yesterday there was an update, and today again - both times the same issue.
I am using MQTT and all my data is connected via Zigbee2MQTT - if it makes a difference.
Any similar issues or ideas on how to troubleshoot?
Yes, I’m having the same issue. Each time there is a new update detected HA stops working, and all automation is ignored. I have to hard boot the system to get it back online. I then can perform the update via the notification. Raspberry Pi-5 with M.2 SSD. Zwave and HA Zigbee. No errors reported. Really an issue with the number of updates.
Any advise of troubleshooting or diagnosing greatly appreciated.
Has anyone found a solution to this? I have been having the same issue for a few years now. Tried different boxes, a couple of different VM hosts, nothing. Every time there is an update available, either the automations stop working, some devices do not respond, or the entire system just freezes.
How do I resolve this? By updating (either core or OS), and after it restarts, all comes to normal.
