I recently noticed that HA discovered this device. Researching suggests that this is related to my Lutron Caseta Smart Bridge Pro. The Lutron integration and associated devices has been operating correctly for around a year, since I started using HA.
My question is why this new “discovered” device? I presume it appeared from one of the recent updates and it somehow interfaces with HomeKit, which I do not have. I would appreciate some insight on this.
Thanks.
Maybe the Smart Bridge just acts as HK controller?

@BebeMischa, yes, you are right. More research taught me that Homekit is simply a software framework and there is no Apple Homekit “controller” or “hub”. In this case, the nomenclature and my lack of Homekit knowledge confused me.
This is what I found:
https://www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/comments/10sn7wv/why_do_these_devices_say_homekit_controller/
A device that supports Homekit can be discovered as a “controller”. There is also a Homekit integration that allows HA devices to be controlled using the Apple Home app and Siri.
From what I gathered, one advantage of Homekit is that it can be local-based rather than cloud dependent. It is discussed in the reddit link above.
Cheers.

Did you end up ignoring it or did you add it? I’ve just left mine untouched and I’d love to get rid of the notification for it lol
I added them because I could not leave well enough alone lol.
How did you know it was looking for the Lutron Caseta Smart Bridge Pro? The same thing happened to mine and I couldn’t figure out which device it was until I read this post. My Lutron switches were all working fine without it.
