HA displaying weird info on a Zigbee power plug

Hi all,

I have a zibgee powerplug controlled by some automation templates to turn on/off an electrical heater.

The device is a Tuya TS011F by _TZ3000_kx0pris5 16A.

I started having weird behavior. First I found out that it turns itself on. It displays power consumption on the dashboard although the little switch is in off position.

Today I unplugged the switch 2 hours ago and the display seems to be stuck to same values. This is the logbook, all about the same plug. It turns on and off by itself ? :

Do you think it’s a fault power plug ? is ti because it’s handling 14.6A while its capacity is 16A ?

Thanks

I’m not sure if it is the same model, however I have another Tuya zigbee power plug with monitoring, the (goes by a number of names) Aqara LUMI Mi power plug ZigBee US Xiaomi ZNCZ12LM. And it is a POS compared to my other zigbee powerplugs and wall sockets. I have tried it both with ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT and it randomly turns off on both, and I am not drawing anywhere near the max power. It’s headed to the electronics junk drawer today.

That said, you are kind of pushing the upper range of most of these ‘home appliance’ plugs. With most of them withOUT UL or other testing, you might want to see if there is a more industrial level zigbee device available.

Good hunting!

Yes Aqara junk unfortunately like you. Buy cheap Buy twice. 2 out of 4 seem to be working fine.

Anyway, I only found wifi power plugs. No much choice on zigbee. Do you recommend any reliable manufacturer ?

Zemismart.

First, I am not sure of your region. I am US based, so everything I say is from those goggles.

Have a look at @nickrout suggestion, he might be more in line with your requirements.

Some brain dump on devices from me:

I do NOT have any experience with this first device, however it does seem to be the right product for high current loads. Seems to do energy reporting, and price at USD 130 is not bad. Canadian company, but they seem to support US with the product. Now the biggest issues is getting the ‘converters’ for your Zigbee setup to recognize it. They list a couple of ‘open’ zigbee platforms but not ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT. So reaching out to them is needed, and maybe some configuration of a new converter.

Sinope Smart electrical load controller 50 A – Zigbee

Sengled Smart Plugs
Not sure on the UL aspect of these.
Current Rating 15 Amps
Operating Voltage 120 Volts

I’m just starting with these, so not much of a opin as yet. But I bought on others here in this forums experiences.

Jasco Zigbee Outlet Receptacle with Energy Monitoring
This is a wall socket, not a external plug device. That said, I have been testing it and I am impressed. If they make wall plugs, might be a good option. Or put it in a external box and plug it into wall, if you don’t want it in wall, bit ‘hillbilly tech’ I know… UL listed.
Current Rating 15 Amps
Operating Voltage 120 Volts

Centralite 4257050-RZHAC Smart Appliance Plug Outlet
Current Rating 12 Amps
Operating Voltage 120 Volts
UL listed. These are my base devices, I bought a number of them quite awhile ago and they have been solid. Multiple running nonstop for years without a hiccup. Unfortunately, they are only now available used on eBay and as shown are only 12 Amp. Of the units I have worked with, this is the only one that exposes voltage as well as current, not a big thing, but another bit of data. Not sure about Sinope unit.

Good hunting!

I’m in Europe. I think I might find same plugs but compatible with european standards.

I have a smart plug that I bought on AliExpress that looks exactly the same but a little bit cheaper than the Zemismart. It’s probably made in the same factory or something, but I can definitely recommend them, they’re probably just as good as the Zemismart so I can recommend OP to look for Zemismart plugs
