Im very new to HA.
I have Raspberry PI 5, no SD card, but SSD drive with adapter through USB, latest Hassio is installed using Imager tool, all preparation steps goes ok but after “Waiting for Home Assistant CLI to be ready…” im getting errors. Seems like docker image cannot read from USB drive.
I was trying to find the similar issue at forum but could not find exactly the same.
I hope someone had the same issue and knows how to fix it 
Are you trying 12.4?
The primary cause is likely power or adapter compatibility. Start by:
- Using a compatible SSD adapter.
- Providing external power to the SSD.
- Updating your Pi’s bootloader firmware.

my friend is using the same kit for couple of years for Raspberry Pi 4 and it works ok -
im not sure it is possible for this kit

Update:
It works ok on USB 2.0 but not at USB 3.0.
