Im new. I’m in for 6 weeks of hardcore Home Assistant with a bit of coding background. My installation is in windows 10 Virtual Box HA OS. I’ve really got my system dialed in and have spent 100’s of hours on my dashboards etc. I’d love not to lose my work.
Today I did some work. Was messing with Firgate, Web RTC and my cams but decided friagte wasn’t needed. I also made some template sensors for logging heating system usage. At some point I came back to my PC and the http://homeassistant.local:8123/ resulted in a refused connection. I figured it was a network issue and went down that rabbit hole. Not using any DNS. Then I started to read and diagnose. It was apparent HA Caore was having issue and would not start at times.
What I tired
-Commenting out every recently created entry in the configuration.yaml
Removed the template sensors from core.device_registry since the log errors point to a device.
ha core rebuild to no avail
-disabled recently installed Addons
Checked backups snapshot which sucked…Only one FULL backup and its from today or even after the issues. I very much misunderstood what create backup meant when updating as they all appear to be partial.
Im limited to the virtual box shell window which sucks. I tried SSH and the connection is refused. I don’t know what to do now. I spent 10 hours today trying to solve this. See image for the errors I am able to find
Well, after 12hrs im in. I cannot understand why but weird issue with the "core.device_registry
It has the wrong version number and was missing “Devices:” from the json header as well as opening and closing brackets to the file. I have never been in any of these files i’ve only worked in the front end UI Kind of a mystery how the hell that could have happened?
Only major headache is it appears all of my zwave.js devices lost their names I gave them as well as the entities which broke all of my automations…
Either way Im back in, have a lot of errors because i was systematically removing devices i thought could be issues. Created a BIG FULL BACKUP.
