I’m trying to install a new Home assistant green but I have some problems.
HA in new, powered from originale adapter and eth connected;
all led are working, White on, green flash some times and Orange Heartbeat flash;
trying to connect ( via phone app Android, PC Linux with Chrome browser, Google on the phone );
Results:
Android app don’t find any server, Scan for a lot of time with no result. When I try the manual input of url I receive everytime the error connection refused .
The URL address tryed ( from Android app and from Chrome) are:
I find the local IP on modem list of connection and HA result regular ethernet connected , with IPV4 and IPV6 address .
The same address I’ve finded on Fing app and with Fing I’ve ping with 0 packet loss and 2ms of ping.
Modem Is Sky , there Is a minimal firewall configuration and Port forwarding Is disabled. I’ve reset the modem to default with no change .
Reboot all a lot of time…
All of the URL tested but with 4357 Port, open the observer Page , with Supervisor connected, Support supported and Health healthy.
Now I really don’t understand why I can’t connect with the server. Is like the problem Is the Port.
With ping I’ve tried to find open Port but I’ve find only a 111 Port .
Hi WallyR,
I’ ve connected a TV with HDMI ( I have only One monitor without HDMI …) and I can see the command line screen of home assistant .
What I see is:
All of my connected device have 192.168.0.xxx where xxx is between 2 an 255 .
My modem (Sky hub) have 192.168.0.1.
There’s 2 Android phone, 1 iPhone , printer , 7 shelly device , 3 wifi bulb lamp and 2 air conditioner, everyone with 192.168.0.xxx IP address. No One have static IP, no Port forwarding configuration .
a simple, poorly protected wifi network!
I have also check Firewall configuration but Is in minimal security, IPV4 and IPV6 enable all outgoing traffic and block only IDENT Port 113 for incoming .
I don’t know what IDENT Is and who work on this Port , but with Fing I discover Port 111 opened in home assistant profile .
I also found this message in the firewall log. Even though it is set to “minimum protection” (it says to block only IDENT port 113). The times match my connection attempts.
FW.LAN2SELF DROP , 2 Attempts, 2025/4/9 23:24:12
I’m connected right with the LAN port 2 … I tried to restart the modem and restore it to factory settings. There were other logs of the Sky Q attempts after the reset because it needed reconfiguration, but they were logs on the IPV6 part, always related to the firewall. I did not find other logs on the LAN, but today I will check again.
At this point I can’t figure out if the problem is the modem or HA green. The IP address is in line with the assigned addresses and the device is visible as “connected”. I’ve read that more than one person has problems with the first activation but I can’t find answers that solve my problem.
I’m trying to get my BT keyboard back…any other ideas/advice? thanks!!
do you mean using the HA app? I tried both from the app with automatic scanning and then manually entering the address, both with Chrome, both from Mi browser (Android of course), and from a PC with Ubuntu (always Chrome). This evening I want to try from Safari with an old iPhone 6
this situation is exhausting, I am new to HA but not with devices like RPI, esp32 or Arduino However it seems so strange to me that it is the modem that blocks the small green HA, I have always connected an infinite number of devices without problems. Could it be a software problem?
Since you can connect to the observer you have the right ip. If the port for the ui is not working, that would suggest either the port is blocked (not likely) or Home Assistant itself did not come up fully.
with the back button? How long pressed? I tried holding it down for more than 10 seconds, I don’t know if it’s correct. The white LED is on, orange is the heartbeat, green is flashing a few times (not regularly), but I don’t know if it was a real reset.
