My first impressions are mixed.

  • Hardware is quality and impressive
  • Software shows promise, but unfinished and lacking AV functions
  • Documentation is terrible
  • Support offers hope
  • User base too low to gain traction

When I say lacking AV functions, I’m specifically referring to TV controls. I have an LG TV which I can control really well with HA using the WebOS integration.

I’ve used the TV Roscard set to Android TV which allows some functions such as volume control.

Maybe I am lacking an understanding of how to configure the remote, but I’m damned if I can perform up, down, left, right navigation to control TV apps such as Netflix. The configuration and documentation needs a LOT of work to make it a user friendly device.

Perhaps there is a janky method using yaml.

Assigning a button to run a script or mapping *.buttons seems a logical solution. I hope this is implemented soon.

Fully agree, scripts are essential to allow full customization and they should enable that on all buttons, virtual and real ones.

Hi all,

Well I got mine… and it’s a really nice looking bit of kit.

The problem I have, though, is that I can’t get anything onto the remote. I get “Device is empty”.

I created a Dashboard. Added a Roscard. Populated it with a few entities. Saved it.

Then did Refresh on the remote.

And nada.

I’m wondering if it’s a bit messed up because of the new version of Home Assistant?

You have to create a view on the dashboard. The default home view doesn’t work. It’s discussed earlier in this thread iirc.

You are not on your own, other users including myself hit this problem. The onboarding process should provide better guidance on this. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

I also had trouble locating the Refresh button, I think it only appears on the root/home screen, making it necessary to go back a few times to get access to it.

@Sones Today I updated the remote to 1.0.38 and now I get the device empty again. It is still the same dashboard that worked fine before I updated the remote. What should I do?
