HA running on NAS Docker - management of Somfy io-homecontrol protocol

Hi there,

Thanks for reading me!

Very briefly, a short introduction of myself since it’s my first post here.
I’m just fresh on domotics, and after several searchs on the web on which domotic platform to use, I have made my decision to go on HA (hopefully the most suitable for me - and simply the best one, who will not agree? ).
So I started to configure my HA environment about 1 month ago, and have successfully integrated some of my domotic devices (so far, mainly zigbee devices: Hue lights and Netatmo temp devices).

Now, a brief recap on my configuration.
I am running my HA environment on my Synology NAS 412+ directly on a docker container. I have successfully managed to configure all the stuff and added some other brands devices on zigbee! For that, I have brought the conbee II USB dongle on my NAS which simply works perfect to me so far!
I now want to add my brand new Somfy binds (somfy motor: RS100 IO currently installing myself // at least trying…) which are using the “io-homecontrol protocol”, but I realized it would require a somfy box (tahoma/connexoon)…

I have read some alternatives such as VELUX KLF200 gateway or using other domotic boxes that are compatible with this protocol, but I would really want to avoid such additionnal devices at my home.

My questions:

  1. Did anyone manage to control Somfy io-homecontrol devices directly through their HA environment? I guess the answer will be “no” because I have made several searches on internet but in case a genious has found a way to manage this, I would really appreciate the knowledge sharing!
  2. Otherwise, does anyone know if this is gonna happen any day soon?
  3. My last option will be to buy a Connexoon box but let’s see your answers first!

Many thanks for reading me so far and thanks in advance for your answer.

Cheers

Hi there,
No geek or Somfy specialist able to do that so far?

No, you definitely need a bridge (Somfy or Velux) to communicate with IO devices.

However, think if you want local control or just via Somfy cloud. The Velux box (see topic on the forum) is the only way to offer local control, however there are some small issues with that integration sometimes.

Nowadays, the TaHoma Switch would be the cheapest way to add your IO devices to Home Assistant. However, you would probably need the ha-tahoma custom component. (should be added to core soon). This is always communicating via the Somfy cloud, no local control.

The only way to add local control is to jailbreak your box, which is hard and has just been tried on some specific models (see forum topic). HomeKit support for Somfy should be added in the next Home Assistant version, which will also give you some kind of local control.
