HA wont boot & Restore failure

Hi,

For some reason I cant start my Home Assistant instance, it continually reboots before it starts. I’ve been having an issue with the storage getting full, so I guess it filled up & cant boot.
If there’s a way of fixing that directly I would like to know, but I thought it would be easier to start again from a backup.

I created a new Home Assistant for Pi image, booted it and when it asks to restore, pointed it at the image and selected restore. Noting came on screen it seemed to go back to the same enter credentials or restore screen.

So I entered credentials, and loaded the instance. Once loaded i went to backups and there was my backup, but if I try to restore it fails and in the log is:

21-11-29 16:58:53 INFO (MainThread) [supervisor.backups.manager] Found 1 backup files
21-11-29 16:59:07 ERROR (MainThread) [supervisor.backups.manager] Invalid password for backup 60786a5a

The funny thing is I don’t use a password on my backup files. I can open the tar files fine on my PC.

Any ideas on either solution?

I have never had ant success with restore on install.

The procedure I have used several times is:

  • full clean HA install
  • log in and add SAMBA add-on
  • restore your backup to the backup share via the network
  • do a restore and you should be good to go.

Thanks, that helped. Its looking better. Have some issues to solve as it didnt seem to like the full backup, but the core backup looks ok.

Its my node-red flows i’m most concerned about.

I had the same issue. I can open the tar on my PC without password but when i try restore on HA the logs say:

The same from signup page or from new installation settings
