I had HA running on a Ubuntu image for a year or so. Then I had a requirement to update my VmWare Workshtation from version 15 to 17 for another system. Did that and found Vmware 17 crashed my system. Downgraded back to 15 and my HA no longer works.
If I remove the firmware=“efi” from the vmx confile file, the OS starts but docker doesn’t start and no HA.
if I add "irmware=“efi” then I get the boot prompr, if I choose “start normally” it hands at PXE boot. If I try to choose the HD directly, it doesn’t do anyhting. As if it won’t allow me to choose the HD…
I’d really just like to get my config from this machine and rebuid but I cannot seem to start it after the Workstation upgrade/downgrade…
Gotcha. So, I cannot speak to most of that. But, I have mounted VM drives in other machines to copy files off. Can you just do that and not worry about getting the VM running?
I can boot the machine without EFI, and can get into it. If I boot with the EFI option per install guidelines, it won’t load. Not sure what I can do here.
The is Vmware Workstation 16 built Ubuntu VM with HA installed on it. However, I cannot boot it if firmware=“efi” there and i’m not sure why.
If I boot it normally, there are critical components that don’t load.
Is there anyway I can get my config out of the system?
Well. I guess i’ll just move on and figure out if there is another solution. Would have liked to understand whathappened with my build and if it’s indeed all gone
