I have (had) HA running on a Pi - everything was fine.
The Pi was connected directly to my router.
Some other things were also connected to the router (Hive, Hue, Sonos etc).
I had to move everything so I powered it all off.
I reconnected everything in the new location - except this time through a TP-Link switch.
Everything has restarted and reconnected EXCEPT for Pi/ HA.
The router said it was not connected.
I tried restarting the Pi - no change.
I then plugged the Pi directly into the router (ie. to eliminate the TP-Link switch) and the router now shows the Pi on its old IP address and I can ping it.
The iPhone app in Settings says ‘web socket = connecting’ and then periodically changes to ‘Disconnected’.
When I stop the iPhone app and restart it, it presents a red box with ‘NSURLErrorDomain - 1004’
Unfortunately I use Alarmo on it so I am going to be in trouble when my wife gets home.
Please can anyone help me get it restarted?
Thank you.
You didn’t say how this is powered exactly, so I’m guessing PoE. Sounds like you run out of available power or no power as you move it around. That is why I have a power supply plug on mine. No guessing. I recommend using a power supply.
Thanks for your response. Not PoE - the Pi is on its own DC supply.
It responds to a Ping and, a few minutes ago, I tried with a Chrome browser and got the HA logo with ‘Initializing’ but that has now stopped and I’m getting ‘this site can’t be reached’
Since you can ping. Can you SSH into it? (terminal). If still not then, I would say power down for 5 minutes (cool the unit down), then re-power(reboot). Could be some parts have heated up. PI can get hot.
Ah…this is where we approach the boundary of my knowledge.
I have just installed PuTTY, run it and entered the IP address, clicked ‘Open’ and this is what I get.
It’s in an enclosure so I would have to unscrew stuff which I can’t do right now.
It’s a Raspberry PI 4B 8GB RAM bought from Amaxon in Oct20.
Here are the visible LEDs, if that helps.
EDIT: 10 mins after posting this, it has started responding to a ping. No response from PuTTY (although I am not sure what I am doing there) and no response via the browser.
the best “idea” is to always have a monitor/keyboard/mouse, that you can connect direct to your PI, and the ha-console, without it your in deep s…
If you can ping ha-ip, it seems it’s somehow up ( maybe partly ), SSH is only possible if you have add-on installed, or RooT-access to the os ( which i doubt you have =
I have to agree that it is partially up. Both LEDs on the ethernet plug indicate a Link and activity. The Red and Green LED mean power OK and the SD card has activity. So I hope that you have a USB Keyboard and mouse (USB Hub also in case you need expansion for those two items) and a monitor hookup available on the PI.
I’m thinking data/system corruption on the memory storage (eMMC card) unit. A reinstall from a known good backup after a clean start. Do you have any backups?
I can get a USB keyboard and mouse on it, but not a monitor.
Either way, I cant do anything now until next week (other than throw everything in the trash).
Thanks for your help - have a good weekend
EDIT: If the Sandisk memory card is damaged then that’s the second time it’s happened. My backup is on my PC and it’s a couple of weeks old.
