Relatively new to HA and I am switching a lot of my Insteon devices to ZHA. My Yellow Box is configured with the internal ZHA, but from what I have been hearing, the SLZB-06 is a great adapter for increasing range. Can I have both the internal ZHA and the SLZB-06 running together? It so, do I need to put the SLZB-06 into a router mode? How do I do it, or should I be turning off the internal ZHA and go strictly with the SLZB-06 adapter for everything Zigbee? If so, how do I turn off the ZHA adapter so HA uses only the SLZB-06? TIA
ZHA controls a mesh network, so the range of an individual device is totally irrelevant. What is important is that there are enough mains-powered routing devices to give more than one path between nodes - a mesh.
So, no, I’d suggest not switching from one of the best Silicon Labs chipsets (albeit with a small antenna and an unpopulated J9 IPEX / U.Fl connector bottom left) and instead buy more devices. Cheap IKEA TRÅDFRI mains switch sockets work well.
