HAOS in Virtual Box under macOS: No network connection / adapter

Dear community,

I am an absolute beginner with HA and HAOS. While, I do have some knowledge about virtual machines and Linux, I seem to be stuck and could use some help.

I just followed the tutorial set up a Virtual Box (7.1.2 r164945) vm under macOS (Sequoia 15.0). HAOS seems to boot fine - I see boot messages and get a shell prompt after that. It tells me it is UEFI Interactive Shell v2.2, EDK II UEFI v2.70.

But connecting to homeassistant.local:8123 does not work.

I poked around a bit and found that “ifconfig -l” does not give me any interfaces, although I did select a bridged network adapter for the virtual machine as per the instructions.

This can’t be right of course. Time is also off by more than 7 hours - most likely because ntp does not work without network.

So I guess my question is, why there is no network adapter in HAOS, although it has been set up for this virtual machine?

Any help/hint would be greatly appreciated!

Kind Regards,
Martin
