HAOS not starting: System is not ready with state: setup

Running HAOS under Virtbox on a Mac. All was well until I did an upgrade of the HAOS. It may be that I am out of disk space (64GB) but that is just a wild guess). When I start the vm, it boots and I end up with:

Welcome to the Home Assistant command line
Waiting for Supervisor to startup…
System Information
Error returned from Supervisor: System is not ready with state: setup.

Can anyone help me get this working again?

the banner command somehow got this working again. have no idea why but I found it suggested in this forum. Now my problem is that HA OS is using a lot of CPU and is therefore performing poorly.
