HAOS on N100 --- no access through Webinterface after successful installation

Hello community,
I’m new here and in the HA world.
Yesterday I installed HAOS on my new N100 mini PC and it went well so far.
I’m facing following issue now: 'm not able to access my HA via the web interface over IP.

What did I do?

  1. installing HAOS via Ubuntu USB Stick (USB-card reader with micro SD card) while N100 was disconnected from WLAN and LAN → successful, but IP-address wasn’t available for sure
  2. shut down the system and connected via LAN cable with my router → restart → SUCCESSFULLY I got the IP address → I set it to “fixed” in the router settings
  3. I reached the HA via the IP address in my browser → SUCCESS
  4. I entered all required data for creating my account and clicked “create” button (I can’t remember the right name of the button) → PROBLEM: no reaction - what I recognized then, when I hit a 2nd time the button: there was a blue bar in the top left corner of the page that seemed to show the progress, but this was frozen.; any additional hit on the button didn’T turn into any visible action.
  5. I tried to repeat the process, but then I was told “User step already done”
  6. I cannot log in since

I was not able to reset the password, when I brought the N100 to my workingplace (disconnected from LAN / WLAN).

I tried meanwhile to find the username in Home Assistant Command Line, but without success.
My try to change/reset my password via cammand line was unsuccessful as well → “Error: Unknown error, see supervisor”

BTW: I used Firefox for all actions, except to check, if I can create my account with another browser, after I faced the above issue.

Can you help me with THE tip, to identify my fault?

Tahnks a lot in advance.

What is the current state.

Is it in and plugged in to the network? Can you ping it but you just can’t login?

If you just can’t login…

Thanks, Nathan.
your link → That is what I tried already.

Yes, I can ping it, but I can’t log in.

Start again. Connect it to the wired lan before you start. You can’t install HAOS without the internet.

Thanks, nickrout!
If this is true, then I got it: " You can’t install HAOS without the internet."
I will now install it again from scratch while connected via LAN and the internet.

Will let you know here, if successful.

Update after installing HAOS from scratch at the final location and connected from beginnng on via LAN cable with Router/internet:

  1. installation via Ubuntu stick worked without issues SUCCESSFULLY
  2. IP addresses were displayed at the end as follows:
IPv4 addresses for wlp2s0: ‘no information/text displayed in this field
IPv4 addresses for enp3s0: 192.168. … ‘the IP address of my N100 HA was displayed
IPv6 addresses for enp3s0: 2a00:… , fe80… ‘another IP address of my N100 HA was displayed
IPv4 addresses for enp 1s0: ‘no information/text displayed in this field
  3. when I connected from my main computer via Firefox with the N100 HA via IP-address, I reached the initial site to set-up an account “create my smart home” → I clicked the button and the next page appeared, that allowed me to enter all data (name, username, password) → after entering all data, I hit the button “create account”.
  4. nothing happend! the screen seemed to be frozen → i.e. the same situation as I faced in the first round, but I avoided to click the “create account” button more than once.
The light-blue bar on the top left was and still has a length of 1/4 of the displaed page … and it is not moving.

Edit: I’m facing the same situation by trying to create an account via the Android HA App :frowning:

‘HELP!’

I’m lost. I would really appreciate any help / tip from you.
Thank you.

@nickrout: I need to correct myself: My N100 was connected to the internet, prior and while installaing HAOS via Ubuntu - connected via WiFi, but after that i disconnected and connected to LAN at the final location, where my N100 will “live”. With the 2nd round of installation, I avoided this - see description above.

There may be a dns problem. What is your dns setup?

Apologies for not being responsive.
Here the dns info from the HA system on the N100:
“locals:
dns://192.168.178.1
mdns: true
servers: [ ]
update_available: false
version: 2024.04.0”

The dns is matching my routers IP.
I’m using a repeater - my main PC is connected via this repeater, while the N100 is connected via LAN cable to the router.
It doesn’t change anything, if I directly connect with the router (w/o repeater).
What I didn’t check yet: connecting the PC via LAN cable as well. If this could help :face_in_clouds:

BTW: I’ve checked, that the secure boot mode is disabled.

And the password reset via “auth reset --username existing_user --password new_password” is just resulting in “unknown error, see supervisor”

The question may be where your router is getting it’s DNS from. Some isps just screw with you. Try setting the routers upstream DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 9.9.9.9

I set my dns manually to …
DNSv4 primary: 8.8.8.8
DNSv4 alternative: 9.9.9.9
→ no success

next try:
DNSv4 primary: 8.8.8.8
DNSv4 alternative: 8.8.4.4
DNSv6 primary: 2001:4860:4860::8888
DNSv6 alternativ: 2001:4860:4860::8844
and after that I …
a) restarted my router and
b) installed HAOS on the N100 agian from scratch
All worked well → The HAOS stared and showed up with the initial screen (I left this open, while I took my normal PC, that I connected via LAN cable with my router (btw: the HA-N100 was connected the whole way as well via LAN cable with router); …
then I connected in a different browser (several time emptied cache and all temp elements (not only those from the last day) via the IP addres → success
BUT: the same story again: when I entered my name, user name, password and clicked “create user account” nothing happens, just the screen background of this HA page kept moving. The blue bar on top left is frozen at 1/4.
:face_with_raised_eyebrow:    :exploding_head:

Now, FINALLY!!!
I’m in :v:
Those who can read, have a significant advantage

My FAULT: I entered the user name manually including CAPITAL LETTERS.
I think that’s it. → SUCCESS by entering the username in small letters.

Thanks so much for your help and time, you invested.
