We are purchasing new curtains for our home and ordered them from Veneta (Gordijnen Op Maat Kopen • Vanaf €4 • Veneta.com).
Now, we are looking for ways to automate it. We will have them mounted on a rail, but I’m looking at options to have it automated and can’t find anything suitable. And I cannot replace the rails, because one of them is custom made with a few bends.
The closest one I found was this one from Aqara: https://www.aqara.com/eu/product/curtain-driver-e1-track-version but on u-rails, they only support curtains with wheels, which is not our case.
So, I come forward with my requests:
Does anyone have experience with using the Aqara driver with wheelless u-rails? More specifically, with Veneta ones? Hopefully with rails with bends (yes, I know this is a stretch)
Does anyone have something to suggest in its place? I have Wi-Fi and Zigbee connectivity already working, and I can add more protocols without an issue.
Hey @alex_og no answer for now.
But I will get the rails installed next week. So I will just buy the Aqara driver and see what happens. I will update the post however it goes
There are a couple of those similar products… you probably could find a dozen in this style over the internet, and maybe even comparison reviews on YouTube.
I’m currently evaluating some options and I’ll add the SwitchBot one to the list.
The issue also seems to be that the Aqara still isn’t properly supported by deCONZ, which is what I’m currently using. I know there are some recent developments, but it means purchasing the Aqara isn’t without any risks if you’re in the deCONZ ecosystem.
Hey @alex_og,
Sorry for the delay with feedback, but I was doing a lot of testing and finally managed to get something that suited me.
In the end, I am using the Aqara Curtain Driver and it works nicely with a few modifications to the gliders.
The curtain driver explicitly tells us it needs curtains with wheels, and not simply sliding gliders. I bought some of them (10mm for my rail) and they work nicely.
The issue is that the Aqara driver puts some pressure on the gliders attached to it, to properly pull and push the curtains, and the wheeled drivers I bought would not resist it properly. So I have the curtain driver itself on the original gliders (non-wheeled ones) and all the other curtain attachments on the wheeled gliders.
I added a picture for reference, with both the wheeled driver I bought and the original glider that came with the curtain.
I hope this helps you or someone else looking for it.
Hi, I have the same issue; Veneta curtains with u-rail and plastic gliders that break after a while due to the pressure that the Aqara driver is using to push and pull the curtains. I don’t understand your solution by using both gliders with wheels and the original glider from Veneta. Can you please clarify and/or share a picture of how it is installed? Thank you and regards!
