Hardware for underfloor heating control

Hi All -

I am having underfloor heating installed and am wondering about the best hardware to use so as to control the heating from HA.

A brief search suggests Shelly PM1s and the associated temperature sensors would work - do I actually need dedicated thermostat hardware, or can I just use generic_thermostat with this setup? Would there be any benefit to having hardware thermostats?

As I am installing from scratch I would like to get this right first time.

Many thanks.

The benefit from hardware thermostats is that they continue to work if your home-assistant goes down. Shelly devices include thermostat functionality. You can use that or control them with a home-assistant thermostat component or the PID Smart Thermostat custom component.

Thanks. Do you have an automated underfloor heating system? Can I ask what hardware you’re using?

I use Shelly 1PM’s. They work well.
