Hardware RaspberryPi ZigBee\Zwave Switches

Hello. I have one simple (i hope) question about zigbee. While there is a renovation going at my home, I soon have to decide which switches to use (if at all use smart switches). I’ll be using RaspPi3 for this.

So, while ZWave switches hardware configuration seems straight fowrard, just plug a ZWave Stick into my Pi, and it should be able to control ZWave devices at my home… What about ZigBee?

First of all - is there something like ZWave stick but for ZigBee? I see, that some firms, like Legrand, use ZigBee for their switches. And I know that most ZigBee devices use proprietary protocols and hubs.

So, which switches should I use? Any recomendations? ZigBee or ZWave? If ZigBee, how can I control them from HASS? Which particular firms are good and won’t burn my house down?

Thanks.

Replying to my own question:

I went with ZWave, as it’s much more straightforward compared to zigbee. Firstly - there’s no usb stick for zigbee. There’s an XBee module for Raspberry, however. But it seems that most people with HASS and overall use ZWave devices.

ZigBee can be used through Hue Bridge or some other ZigBee bridges, though.
