Hey guys and gals caught this on reddit. Luckily mine had not updated yet. so i blocked access into as well as out of my network from the address at the following links via tomato router firmware . I am sure any firewall rule would work as well. Hopefully this works as i can’t find a way to turn off auto updates on the harmony hub.

so if you block internet access on the hub? there will be always a red light on now?
mine is blocked and still working with no upgrade and i have green light.
I have read that some people can’t use hub if they block the addresses. I can confirm in my instance that all is still good and working, i hope it stays this way. I wish i new more and could help with a fix but i am not a programmer by no means. Just wanted to try and keep other people from loosing functionality if possible.
I blocked websites also, led is still green, everything is working, only the app on my Android doesn’t work, hangs at verify configuration, also confirmed by other users…
So if your Android app still works, and you can connect to hub, be careful, maybe internet is still possible on your hub!!
odd, my app uses wifi and bluetooth to communicate locally and works fine, which makes since to me because i am not going out of my lan to communicate, i assume it communicates direct with the hub. But i will do some more testing , thanks for the heads up! I wonder if it is because i have a static ip set on my hub and i am only blocking traffic to that specific hub from those sites , ie… if myharmony dot com tried to access my smart tv it would be allowed just not my hub.
Mostly my entire network is static , i am a little anal that way.
I can confirm that if i disconnect wifi from my tablet/phone i can not access the hub so it is definitely not visible via wan.
i am still on 201, and blocked internet on the hub, now the problem is that the android app is not working anymore on adroid, this is confirmed by other users
so how can we now update settings for activities or buttons? so probably synching is not working anymore
i know websockets will be released soon, but any1 tried already changing buttons/activities with a blocked internet connection?
Since the first thing it does when you go to sync changes is to check for a software update, I think we’re stuck with whatever configurations we have now…
yes, really sucks
so for now we can use websockets, so we can still change stuff on 206 firmware if it gets synched
lets hope, we can use websockets for a really long time
