I’m looking for a clean ceiling-mount mmWave presence sensor with PoE for Home Assistant. I came across CeilSense (ceilsense.nl) from SmartHomeShop — it looks like an LD2412 + ESP32 in a purpose-built recessed ceiling housing with PoE and native ESPHome support.
On paper it ticks every box: flush ceiling mount, PoE powered, ESPHome native, multi-sensor (presence + lux + temp/humidity). It’s on the ESPHome device registry and has a GitHub repo.
However, I can’t find a single review, forum thread, or YouTube video about it. Has anyone here bought one or have any experience with it?
Specifically interested in: reliability of presence detection (static occupancy — people sitting still), thermal behaviour in a sealed ceiling cavity, PoE stability over time, and how it compares to Apollo MSR-2 / Everything Presence Pro.
Yeah, I’m aware of the everything presence pro, but I’m looking for something more streamlined, more polished. I don’t want a 3D printed piece thar visible.
The one I shown not only has presence detection, it also has temperature, light, CO2 and humidity. It looks too good to be true, and it can even be powered from mains, which the everything thing doesn’t seem to have
Yes, I finally ordered one, the full one, because if you are going to lose money better try the better option
I have been testing it for 2 weeks now, not in it's final destination, but next to another sensor that I have in my living room.
So far, it is working great, it give me more accurate readings than the sensy-one, even put in a worse position.
Once I install it in the ceiling, I'll report back my impressions, but so far very happy
