I recently acquired one and was looking to see if I could use it with Home Assistant. Doesn’t seem to be supported in the components and I’m not quite sure at this stage what has to be done to allow it to work and be supported.
“Two weeks ago, home office retailer Staples threw in the towel on the Staples Connect home automation gear, which used “white label” (unbranded) Zonoff software to steer the system hub. A product reseller, Z-Wave Products, has bought up the chain’s inventory and will continue to support the system with Zonoff’s help, said Garton, though the picture for future product development is cloudy.”
Yeah I was aware of the discontinuation by Staples. That being said it till works for now as far as I know, I just wanted to see if I could add it as a component with Home Assistant.
I know there’s no official support and not sure that it’s likely if the platform seems to be a dead end. Maybe try searching on github to see if anyone has done anything with it?
I would be careful with hubs, especially ones that are SaaS. Several have gone out of business; or were bought by companies like google. Then they were bricked. The end.
If you’re looking for an inexpensive hub that is fully supported, you can find Wink hubs at places like Home Depot and Target at clearance prices. They are not carrying them anymore, but the company is still in business and most of their control is being made local.
