Has anyone used TMOS PIR and does it work as advertised

I searched but didn’t find any threads on this. Just happened to come across this while looking at m5stacks website. Has a regular PIR and TMOS PIR sensor. Seems promising as it can detect body temperature for occupancy detection. While the one linked is 2 meter range for TMOS there are ones with up to 4 meters out there based on some brief research.

Without zones mmwave is to finicky and these seems like a good alternative for things when your in a certain area like in bed or the bathroom. If I’m in bed and get up I can do whatever with HA. With mmwave if my ceiling fan on that’s just not possible without zones when using mmwave. That and it’s much, much cheaper outside DIY.

Was just wondering if any had tried it and if it works and is reliable. Might just order one due to the price anyways but feedback would be appreciated.

EDIT: Looking at m5stacks AliExpress site it was released.somewhat recently. When searching for TMOS PIR on AliExpress only shows the m5stack so not expecting much feedback. Just trying to find one locally as ordering from M5 or Ali results in shipping costing more than the sensor. Thought these had been around longer

LAST EDIT: Thw.more I think about it TMOS PIR would need to be supported in ESPHome and I highly doubt that it is considering this is the the only model. I’ll check ESPHome sub and check GitHub to see if there is an existing feature request to support it or not. Please correct me if I’m mistaken but a new technology doesn’t simplify just work by itself.

More info

TMOS PIR Unit is a high-sensitivity infrared sensor unit for presence and motion detection. It uses the STHS34PF80 chip solution. It communicates with M5 devices through I2C (default address: 0x5A). Its working principle is based on the black-body radiation principle described by Planck’s law, which allows it to monitor ambient temperature and detect human presence and motion. The sensor can distinguish between stationary and moving objects and has an 80-degree field of view, providing a wide detection range. Additionally, it supports adjustable sampling frequency and gain modes to meet different application needs. It is suitable for applications such as alarm systems, smart lighting, and occupancy detection.

Just a quick question. I noticed that m5stack has an Arduino examples on GitHub and a micropython example on their website. The sensor (STHS34PF80) would still need to be added to the ESPHome components library in order for it to work, correct?
