I have downloaded and Etcher’ed the rpi2 version of hass about 10 times now unsuccessfully. When I try to boot nothing happens, when I try to mount the img or the SD card my mac says there is no mountable filesystem. I have tried the 1.9 and 2.1 versions of the hassos image for the rpi2 on both a mac and a windows computer with no success. The really confusing part is that for the hell of it I tried to Etcher and boot retropie and it went fine and booted up no problem.
What am I doing wrong?!
How do you know nothing happens?
What are you expecting to happen???
I have it plugged into a tv and I see no post. The activity light only blinks for about 1/2 a second, and it never pulls an IP address or even shows network activity lights. I left it sitting for about 20 mins at one point to see if anything would change.
Not sure what the HassOS ver 2.1 is as 1.9 is the latest I am aware of. It will be slow on a Pi2 but I’d expect it to get an IP address pretty much straight away.
Sounds like it’s not booting to me. Did you wait till etcher finished? Is etcher the latest version (I used to have no end of trouble with the original one)
Etcher completed and verified, and as I said I tried it on both a windows and mac computer with the same results. I also successfully wrote another os (retropie) to the SD with no problems and it booted fine.
I went backwards from the download url until i found the other versions, thats where I found 2.1: https://github.com/home-assistant/hassos/releases/
ok so 2.1 is a dev pre-release whereas 1.9 is the current stable version. So you want 1.9.
Suggest wiping card by deleting all partitions and then reimaging it with 1.9 and making certain it’s done.
Are you using ethernet?
I have tried reformatting and it didn’t work, and I just tried 1.7 and thats not working either. It’s like the downloads are getting destroyed somehow.
not reformatting… deleting all partitions on the card and then etching. You also didn’t answer wifi or ethernet???
Ethernet, but it dosnt really matter at this point because its not even booting.
Reformatted on mac disk utility to FAT, reflash with Etcher to 1.9 and verified just fine. MacOS cannot open the SD card says theres a problem, clicked ignore and removed from the computer and plugged into the pi. It has been plugged in and on ethernet for about 30 mins now and it still has not pulled an ip address and there are no activity lights at all.
I have no idea whats going on, all the downloads for all revisions of the pi seem to be corrupted on my computer. when I unzip the img and try to mount it on my mac it says that there is no mountable file system. all other img files that are properly formatted can be opened on a mac with no problem.
