I have 2 Ubiquiti UVC3 outdoor cams and have them hooked up to my Synology NAS running surveillance station. I am quite OK with this setup because surveillance does its job perfectly fine. It runs of a mirrored set of 2 HDD’s of 3 TB.
But the NAS comes with only 2 included license so if I want to add an additional one I need to buy an extra license for about 50 euro. Which I find relatively expensive. There is no unlimited cam plan or something, I just need to pay per camera.
On the other hand I have my Hass.io setup. This one runs on my esxi hypervisor on another machine.
Now, there are some camera integrations but I am unsure which one offer the possibility to do actual motion detection and then trigger recordings. Preferably I want my footage immediately uploaded to my encrypted webdav storage in the cloud (in case the burglar steals the box where the footage is stored on, of course).
I prefer to use open source software so I am able to peek in the code sometimes. Not necessarily because open source software is (mostly) free as in free beer.
Is there some kind of overview/comparison of each Hass.io component/integration?
If folks have other nice software tips for the recording of my cams that would also be nice. I can also spin up some dedicated vm or container for this purpose.
